Best known for its fiery Minang cuisine and matriarchal culture, the Indonesian province of West Sumatra can now be proud that one of its finest daughters, the delightfully alluring Whulandary Herman (23), has been crowned as Miss Indonesia 2013, and will go on to represent the country in this year’s Miss Universe competition.
Whulandary beat off 37 other hotties, including South Sumatra’s Marisa Sartika Maladewi (first runner-up) and Bali’s Cok Istri Krisnanda (second runner-up).
Indonesia’s previous attempts to win the contest have often ended in farce with overweight contestants mumbling in broken English and, most disconcertingly of all, even refusing to wear swimwear.
So, is Whulandary the girl to end this miserable run? Well we certainly think so!
